Designed in 1955, the Jacobsen Series 7 Armchair continues to be one of the most popular chairs around because of its functionality, durability, flexibility and overall contemporary design. Designed by the famed Danish designer, Arne Jacobsen, millions of these chairs have been installed in homes and businesses around the world.
Using a multilayered wood structure with a beechwood finish, the seat and back are mounted on a tubular steel frame that has been chromed. The underside and bentwood structure are manufactured in the same way the original Series 7 chair was built.
Arne Jacobsen was a fascinating designer who whose work was not limited to furniture. Though he had several legendary furniture designs, such as the Egg Chair and Swan Chair, he will also be remembered for his talents as an architect. Such projects as St. Catherine's College at Oxford, the SAS Royal Hotel in Copenhagen, and the Danish National Bank exhibit his Danish Modern Style.
