Born in Augsburg, Otto Blumel studied architecture at "Munich's technical univeristy". He later changed to painting where he attended the wellknown "Debitzsch" school. From 1907 to 1914 he was head of design departement of "Vereinigte Werkstaetten fuer Kunst im Handwerk", Munich who at the time where trends-setters for interior decoration and architecture. His furniture designs from that time are still beautiful today. This coat-tree with chromed steel frame with the characteristics screws-bolts at sight beckon back to the early 20th century of design.
